On September 20th, Mundo Deportivo reported Newcastle United are among a few clubs to have ‘sounded with strength’ for Marco Asensio, while Barcelona have joined the chase to sign the Real Madrid player.

The winger’s contract expires at the end of this season and he’s not yet agreed to sign a new deal with the La Liga winners. If things don’t change between now and January, then the next window will be Los Blancos’ last chance to cash in from the 26-year-old’s sale.

Fichajes.net suggest the Spain international needs to take control of his situation and convince Carlo Ancelotti to give him an extension at the Bernabéu, even though Real Madrid have decided not to hand him a new deal.

The outlet states that there are several clubs, including Newcastle, who are ‘on the prowl’ for him. It’s claimed the Magpies and a few other sides have ‘knocked on the door’ of the player.

Either way, the Spaniard has to soon make a decision, whether to continue at Real Madrid or change clubs in the coming months.

Although Newcastle and others are in the mix, RAC1 explain there is a ‘pre-agreement’ between Barcelona and Asensio, for the latter to arrive at the Camp Nou as a free agent next summer. They add he has agreed a four-year deal with the Catalan club.
