Fotomac claim Newcastle United have joined the race to sign Besiktas captain Oguzhan Ozyakup in the summer transfer window.

The Turkish newspaper say Newcastle United officials are following the developments over the player’s future, as he’s yet to extend his contract beyond the end of the season with the Turkish champions.

Newcastle United can speak to Ozyakup about his a pre contract agreement and possibly sign the Turkey international in the next window on a free transfer.

It was recently reported in the Turkish media Besiktas will not meet the Turkey international’s demands to extend his contract after he asked the Turkish side for €3.5m a season.

Ozyakup reportedly has a desire to return to England after coming through the Arsenal academy and making the step up to the senior team.

It’s expected Newcastle United will face competition to sign the Turkey international after claims Everton are also keen on the player.
