Newcastle United are making a late attempt to sign Idrissa Gueye from PSG. With the window closing on Monday, the Magpies are looking to take the midfielder on loan until the end of the season.
Gueye moved from Everton to PSG on July 30th 2019, having been linked with the Ligue 1 club for months before that. The French club would be ready to listen to Newcastle, even at this stage of the window, however, Gueye himself isn’t too keen.
L’Equipe report that Newcastle United have initiated contact over the potential signing, and whilst Gueye is open to returning to the Premier League, following his time with Everton, he’s not so keen on joining Steve Bruce’s side.
So far this season, Gueye has made 15 appearances for PSG totalling 882 minutes.
According to the French newspaper, Newcastle and PSG have come to a general understanding that the move can happen, and it’s now just a case of convincing the player.
