Newcastle United have put themselves ‘in the mix’ for Toulouse defender Logan Costa, a potential alternative to Crystal Palace’s March Guéhi.
That’s according to Corriere di Bologna, who report that Newcastle are showing an interest in the centre-back as they continue to hunt Guéhi.
The newspaper covers Newcastle’s interest today as part of a look at Bologna, who are starting the season with a hole in their own defence following the departure of Riccardo Calafiori.
They’ve got their eye on several options and Costa is one of them. They’ve already talked with his agent on commissions, but there is still a €3-4m gap when it comes to an agreement with Toulouse, who want €17-18m.
Newcastle are also ‘in the mix’ as they struggle to close a deal for Guéhi with Crystal Palace, despite an offer now going as high as €75m.
Costa would be a far cheaper option than the England centre-back and it seems Bologna are a little concerned about Newcastle being in the background.
It doesn’t seem like the Magpies have made any advances as of yet but if their pursuit of Guéhi continues to frustrate, perhaps they’ll turn their attention to Costa, and stop him heading to Bologna in the process.
