Newcastle United are no strangers to signing quality midfielders from Serie A.

Sandro Tonali is a major example of that, with the Italian having impressed so far this season for the Magpies.

The Tyneside club could now be attempting to move for another Serie A player.

Tuttomercatoweb’s Niccolo Ceccarini has reported that the player in question is Inter Milan’s Hakan Calhanoglu.

It is stated that Newcastle United have ‘carried out some surveys’ for the Turkish star, who has also attracted attention from Bayern Munich. The German giants have been keen on Calhanoglu in the past and the report indicates that they have now ‘rekindled’ their interest.

Last summer, the 31-year-old decided to stay at Inter despite an approach from the Bavarians. Hope is handed to Newcastle United as Calhanoglu’s situation is evolving and can heat up in the next few months.

Inter are set to bring in a host of new signings in the summer and this can see the Turkey international depart. Due to that, the Italian champions  my accept a reduced fee for Calhanoglu.
