All the relevant sport newspapers in Italy had a mention of Lloyd Kelly and Juventus interest in their Thursday editions, but it wasn’t enough to really make anything of.

Gazzetta dello Sport, Corriere dello Sport and Tuttosport, a Turin based sport newspaper, stated Juventus remain interested in the Newcastle United player but haven’t got any closer with the Magpies.

The Premier League are thought to be asking for a permanent transfer or at least a buying obligation in any loan, whereas Juventus want to try before they buy.

Calciomercato now bring what they’re presenting as an update on the situation. In the coming hours, new contact with Newcastle United is expected as Juve try to reach a happy medium which allows Kelly to make the move.

Juventus transfer chief Cristiano Giuntoli wants ‘a formula that fits with the economic needs of the Bianconeri club’.

The idea is for a loan with a purchase option which turns into a purchase obligation if certain conditions are met.

Obviously those conditions are going to be key.

Newcastle United may well agree if it’s something as simple as Kelly plays 100 minutes for Juventus, but are unlikely to agree to something which requires difficult to reach targets.

Serie A clubs are slowly beginning to realise that Premier League sides are now harder to do business with, partly down to the PSR regulations and every €m counting.
