Loris Karius is expected to be announced as a Newcastle United player today after signing his contract with the Magpies.
That’s according to journalist Florian Plettenburg, who says the player’s move to St James Park is ‘a done deal’.
Newcastle have been left scrambling to sign a new goalkeeper this week following an injury to Karl Darlow, which has left them with just Nick Pope available.
Eddie Howe and co have turned to the free agent market to resolve the issue and quickly focused on Karius, who has been free since leaving Liverpool in the summer.
A deal to sign him has been quickly wrapped up according to reports in Germany and Plettenburg provides the latest information today.
He says Karius signed his short-term contract with Newcastle yesterday and has even passed his first training session with his new teammates today.
The move has been completed, then, and he believes there will be an announcement from the club, ‘probably today’.
