Newcastle United have had a busy last few days of the transfer window.

The Premier League club were kicked into action this week after Rafael Benitez once again went public with his frustration over the club’s lack of transfer business.

Rapidly after, there were claims around Europe of Newcastle making offers and approaches for various players, and the Spanish manager has got at least some of the players he wanted.

Miguel Almiron is the headline signing and Newcastle got the deal over the line after a chase which had been ongoing throughout the winter market.

There could have been a young defensive player arriving today as well, report Le10 Sport in France.

It’s explained Newcastle made a proposal to sign Boubakary Soumaré from Ligue 1 club Lille.

The 19 year old can play both as a defender and defensive midfielder, but Lille knocked back the approach, surely at least partly because of the timing.

Maybe it’s one for the summer.
