Even though Newcastle United and other interested clubs are still to place a bid for Ousmane Diomande, the Portuguese media won’t stop talking about his exit from Sporting.
It’s now newspaper A Bola who features a story about his potential departure from the Lions, only making it more clear that the Lisbon side are waiting for someone to buy him.
The outlet has another piece about Sporting’s interest in selling the centre-back for less than his release clause. That means his price dropping from €80m to €50-60m.
Newcastle again get a mention, with A Bola now pointing out that the Magpies have made ‘exploratory contacts’ for his signing.
They’re not the only club interested in bringing Diomande to the Premier League, though, as Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United are all linked as well. Juventus are said to be keen too.
However, this article doesn’t mention contact from any of those.
Sporting are looking to make a big sale this summer and they’ve chosen the Ivorian to go because he’s not essential for Ruben Amorim, despite having a decent market value.
Now this situation is getting to a point where we wouldn’t be surprised to see Newcastle making the signing for even less than €50m before the end of the summer.
