Newcastle United want to strengthen their attack and Reims’ Hugo Ekitike has been identified as the main target this summer.
The Magpies haven’t managed to convince the striker and their chances have been reduced after Paris Saint-Germain entered the picture for him.
PSG travel to Japan on Saturday for a pre-season trip. L’Equipe state two new players, perhaps even three, could arrive in Paris in the next 72 hours.
Ekitike could be among them as PSG advisor Luis Campos is keen to add the 20-year-old to the Ligue 1 winners’ squad. He has already convinced the player for a five-year contract.
At the same time, Newcastle are’‘constantly forcing’ to buy the player. Eddie Howe’s side have made an offer of €30m plus €5m add-ons and this has ‘seduced’ the leaders of the French club.
PSG, on the other hand, have proposed €5m less than the Tyneside club and the former’s offer is deemed insufficient by Reims.
Ekitike is trying to put pressure on Reims and has informed them he only intends to sign for Christophe Galtier’s side, who have no desire to improve their offer.
