Newcastle United are not interested in a move for Napoli striker Arkadiusz Milik, despite reports suggesting they were in the running.
The Polish striker has been heavily linked with a move away from Naples this summer, with them keen to move him on and get him off the wage bill after signing Victor Osimhen as his contract runs out at the end of the current campaign.
He had been close to a move to Juventus, but that hasn’t materialised, and so rumours about a transfer to England have thus emerged, with Newcastle named among his potential suitors.
That rumour has been dismissed in various circles, with it well established that finances at St James’ Park are tight, particularly after they’ve spent €20m plus on Bournemouth’s Callum Wilson already this summer.
Now, Italian journalist Vincenzo Morabito has joined the chorus of those putting it down, saying the interest from the North East no longer exists.
“Newcastle, currently cannot take the Polish striker anymore,” he told Radio Goal on Kiss Kiss Napoli, relayed by Area Napoli.
“Also because they have already bought another striker, they were interested in Milik in the past, now not anymore.
“The affair has been managed very badly because it’s like the Pandev case, who eventually left Lazio on a free transfer.
“Juventus offered him six million euros, then abandoned him, now he demands the same salary money, but who gives it to him? Nobody, then, would give 30 million to Napoli.”
