The Turkish international, who has also been linked with a move Liverpool in the past few months, has signed a new three-year contract with his boyhood club, which will tie him down to the Super Lig side until June 2024.

There have been reports the Anfield club could come in with an offer next summer for Cakir, as they look to bring in a youngster to provide back-up to Alisson.

It’s reported along with Newcastle United, Rennes and Russian clubs have approached Cakir’s agent and Trabzonspor president Ahmet Agaoglu reacted, to strengthen their hand ahead of the next transfer windows.

Fotospor also claim Trabzonspor’s president will only sell the player for €15-20m, given Newcastle and others are interested.
