Newcastle United are ‘trying to get involved’ in the battle for Borussia Dortmund star Jude Bellingham in the summer.
That’s according to Sport BILD, who say it will be the player who holds the ‘greatest responsibility’ for where he ends up next.
The England star is set to be the major player in the upcoming winter window, with a stay in Dortmund ‘no longer an option’ for him.
All of the big clubs in Europe are seemingly in the race for his signature, with Real Madrid in particular determined to add to their midfield.
Liverpool have also been extensively linked and PSG are also in the mix, although the newspaper states that both they and Chelsea have been ruled out by Bellingham and his group of advisors.
Now Newcastle are trying to put themselves into the conversation, with it stated that they are working to get themselves involved in the ‘poker game’ with the four big clubs vying for Bellingham’s signature.
Whether they will be successful isn’t mentioned and there is plenty of time left to run in the saga as Bellingham and his team don’t intend to make a decision any time soon.
The player himself wants to take him time and assess things, particularly when it comes to Liverpool as he wants to see if they make it into the Champions League. Perhaps he feels the same about Newcastle.
If they were to make it into the top four that would surely provide them with a major boost to their chances, although they would still face a fight against the likes of Real Madrid.
They’re trying to get into the fight nonetheless, which means they’re a new name to keep an eye on in the months ahead.
