Having already taken Bruno Guimarães from Lyon in the January widow, Newcastle United have again set their sights on the Ligue 1 side, this time for Lucas Paquetá.
The Magpies tried to make an approach for the 24-year-old in the winter market, but he wasn’t in favour of a move back then. He is still on their radar, and they have ‘not said their last word’ on the former AC Milan man.
That’s according to But! Football Club, who state Newcastle United ‘try to convince’ Paquetá and are hopeful their ‘seduction operation will bear fruit’.
Eddie Howe’s side again sent an official to watch the Brazil international in action against Nantes at the Groupama Stadium last weekend.
Lyon won the tie 3-2 and scouts from Tyneside club will have been left impressed by his performance as he got his name on the scoresheet.
The Premier League side’s representatives also ‘watched’ the Nantes due of Moses Simon and Ludovic Blas. The latter assisted Quentin Merlin’s first goal against Lyon.
Moses has been ‘approached concretely for several weeks’, but he prefers to leave Nantes and join another club in France.
