As Dusan Vlahovic stands close to the exit door at Juventus, with Newcastle United named as one of the competitors for his signing, the Italian media explains why he could be leaving the club.
The striker joined the Old Lady in June and currently has ten goals for the club. That doesn’t sound highly disappointing, but not hugely impressive either, given that the club spent over €80m to get him signed.
Calcio Mercato now features a story claiming that Vlahovic couldn’t show his best at Juventus yet, but the main issue is that coach Massimilaino Allegri couldn’t take the best from the player either.
The Old Lady expected another kind of number nine, and that’s where they bring another player to comparison. They say Vlahovic is ‘not like Haaland’, who managed to have a quick adaptation and score many more goals under Pep Guardiola.
That’s why the ‘number of admirers’ starts to weigh on Juve’s doubt about keeping him. There, Newcastle United are named along the likes of Bayern Munich, Chelsea, Manchester United and Paris Saint Germain.
These clubs are said to be looking for a centre-forward next summer, and ‘spending is certainly not a problem’, which means the Serie A giants could fall into this ‘temptation’.
There isn’t a final decision on what Juve will do to Vlahovic yet, but it starts to look like Newcastle United will have a chance to go for him in a few months.
