Over the past few months, several reports from France have been claiming that Newcastle United are interested in RC Lens defender Kevin Danso, who’s been standing out lately.
The 24-year-old was recently interviewed by RMC Sport, and it turns out he had to answer to a few questions about his future.
“For now I’m not thinking about that and I’m concentrating on the next game. I can’t control the future but the present moment. We’ll see later, I prefer to concentrate on the present,” Danso said, relayed by Jeunes Footeux.
The outlet writes that the defender is ‘closely followed’ by the Magpies, and since he previously played in English football for Southampton, it’s claimed that he ‘dreams’ of returning to the Premier League one day.
Jeunes Footeux adds that despite Danso’s quotes, he cannot close ‘any doors’ as Lens are expected to be called to talk about him in the transfer window.
The story says his transfer should cost around €35m, if Newcastle want to convince the French side of making that sale.
The Magpies’ chase has been reported since January, so a summer effort should come as no surprise.
