Newcastle United are ‘serious’ about a move for Atalanta forward Robin Gosens and are set to make an official offer for him.

That’s according to Sky Sports Italy, who say that the Magpies already have an agreement in place with the player to make the move to St James Park.

Gosens has found himself out of the picture at Atalanta this season, with injuries meaning he hasn’t featured since September 29th.

That doesn’t mean he is lacking in suitors, though, and Newcastle are at the front of the queue, with Sky stating that they ‘seem to be serious’ about a move this month.

They ‘strongly want’ him despite the fact that he is currently out injured but are waiting for the latest tests results on his injury before making a move.

They are trying to ‘receive assurances’ that the player will be back when expected, which at the moment is February 15th.

If the latest checks provide good news on his recovery, they will present an official offer to Atalanta to sign him this month.

Newcastle will be confident of getting a deal done, having already reached an agreement with Gosens on a three and a half year deal worth €3.5m a year, triple what he earns in Bergamo at the moment.
