Newcastle United are in the picture for Real Valladolid’s Iván Fresneda after failing to sign him in January.
That’s according to Fichajes.net, who state the Magpies have their eyes set on the 18-year-old and are still bidding to sign him.
Newcastle are expected to compete in the Champions League and fight for trophies next season. Eddie Howe is looking to bring in a few quality talents in the summer and this is where the defender would fit in.
The Spain U19 international has starred for the La Liga side this season and is their ‘most promising’ player. He has a €20m release clause in a contract that expires in 2025 and has been closely followed by several European clubs.
Newcastle are not the only club interested in the defender as AC Milan are also keen to sign him. It’s explained the two clubs being interested is ‘no coincidence’ since he is a ‘complete player’ due to qualities like his pace, technique and vision.
Fichajes.net state Fresneda’s arrival at St James’ Park would be ‘great news’ for Howe and Newcastle as he could be a guaranteed right-back for the future. Kieran Trippier, who will turn 32 years of age in September, is currently the first-choice player in that position.
Fresneda would provide competition and cover for Trippier, if he were to make a switch to the Tyneside club in the summer.
