Prior to injuring his adductors, Fabian Schär was a regular under Eddie Howe, and was instrumental to they renewed form that has steered Newcastle United away from the relegation zone.

The Magpies currently sit 15th in the league, a healthy nine points ahead of 18th placed Watford, meaning that while they haven’t avoided the drop just yet, it would take a lot for them to not be a Premier League club next season.

The question in all this is whether Schär will still be at Newcastle next season, as the Switzerland international’s deal with the St James’ Park residents expires in the summer.

We bring this up because his agent, Volker Struth, was recently spotted at Casa Milan, where he sat down with Frederic Massara, the Serie A side’s director of football.

This is reported by Sportitalia journalist Rudy Galletti, who points out the meeting took place ‘yesterday’, meaning Monday, before adding the representative also has the likes of Julian Weigl on his books.

It’s not explicitly stated whether Struth was there for Schär, but with the Swiss defender’s contract in the state that it is at Newcastle, perhaps the idea of a free move to Milan could be appealing this summer.
