Signed from Hull City over the summer for around £5m, Mohamed Diamé might be a regular for Newcastle, but while his lack of goals might be a a concern for the fans, it isn’t for the player himself.

Speaking to So Foot in France, the player has made it clear he isn’t ‘satisfied’ by his current output for his new club, but that the goals will come.

He said: “I work a lot to get to the level required, and I’m not worrying. I’m completely relaxed about what I can bring to Newcastle. The most important is that I’m aware of this situation. I’m settled in the area and in the team, I have a good relationship with people at the club. Things will fall into place naturally.”

Helping Hull win promotion to the Premier League under Steve Bruce, many were surprised to see him ditch the English top flight to return to the Championship following Newcastle’s relegation last season.

However, for Diamé, the decision was an ‘easy one to make’, especially following Steve Bruce’s departure and the mess Hull made of the transfer window, starting the Premier League season with a reduced squad.

While he would have preferred to play in the Premier League, the player is now ‘proud’ to be a Newcastle player, and is ‘extremely happy’ to have made the choice.

Since the start of the season, Diamé has made 16 appearances for the Magpies, scoring three goals and picking up one assist.
