Newcastle United have been presented as a surprise candidate to sign Real Madrid’s Eden Hazard in the summer.

That’s at least what Fichajes.net are reporting and they add the Magpies could rescue the 32-year-old.

Currently in the fourth spot, Newcastle are in contention to qualify for the Champions League next season. If they make it, the Tyneside club want to attract high-quality players.

The report states this is where the Belgian would fit in, even though his performances for Los Blancos would state otherwise.

Real Madrid invested big to sign him from Chelsea in 2019 after starred during his seven-year spell in London. He has failed to replicate for the La Liga side and has struggled since he joined them.

Newcastle could offer an escape route for Hazard, who seems to be looking for a move away from Bernabéu after this season. Eddie Howe’s side ‘could even soon start talks’ with the Madrid club to secure the attacker’s services.

If Hazard were to arrive at Newcastle, the report says it would be a ‘great boost’ for them. It would also allow him to return to the Premier League, where he established himself as one of the best players in the world.

It now remains to be seen whether this claim would be backed up in England, or anywhere else, as this seems to have come out of left-field.
