Steve Bruce will have been well aware there wouldn’t be an entirely positive reaction waiting for him at Newcastle United.

Rafael Benitez was much loved by the club’s supporters and seen as the man to continue in charge, and hopefully take the club forward with new investment. That the Spaniard left after failing to agree a new contract meant the next Newcastle manager would always have a big task to win over fans.

Bruce’s past at Sunderland was never going to help him, and negativity soon surrounded the Premier League club once again.

It’s not all bad news, with the manager trying his best to create a good atmosphere among the squad. New signing Emil Krafth certainly believes Bruce is going the right way about things.

Currently with the Swedish national squad, Krafth has been speaking to the media this week, and was fully positive when it came to talking about his new boss.

Fotbollskanalen quote him as saying: “He is nice, I have not known him for so long but he is a good guy walking around and joking with everyone. He is easy to deal with.”

Asked how he’d rate the Newcastle squad in comparison to others in the league, Krafth said: “We have an interesting squad to do something good. But it is too early to say how good we are at the moment.”
