Now that Newcastle are quite literally backed up by a billionaire, the transfer rumours are going to be non-stop.
It’s only been a week since their takeover, but we’ve already seen big names from around the world linked with a move to St James Park come January.
Newcastle’s new-found wealth went up like a beacon for clubs in pretty much every country, with many sensing an opportunity to get rid of the big names that they don’t want anymore.
We can now add Adrien Rabiot to that list, according to Calciomercato, who say the Magpies have ‘come up’ for the midfielder.
They explain that Juventus ‘aim to sell’ the French international as soon as possible, with their eyes firmly on bringing in Aurelien Tchouameni and possibly Donny van de Beek.
The Italian giants need to sell before they can buy, and Rabiot is one of those that they can look to get rid of.
There is ‘interest’ from Newcastle in the midfielder, with it believed the Magpies are set to move in January and ‘hoard new purchases’.
Rabiot has never convinced in Turin, but he would represent a small capital gain for Juventus should they sell, having arrived from PSG on a free transfer.
They’d be happy to sell, as well as get rid of his €7m a year wages, and replace him with either Tchouameni or Van de Beek.
As far as they’re concerned, a transfer ‘would be a bargain’ for everyone involved, with Rabiot now seemingly set to join the ever-growing list of targets in Newcastle.
