On April 24th, A Spor reported Newcastle United will closely follow Arda Güler in action for Fenerbahçe against İstanbulspor.

Three days later, Haber 7 stated the Magpies could carry out a cheap deal for the 18-year-old by taking advantage of his clause. His price tag will drop to €5m if he fails to clock 1500 minutes this season.

Ajansspor also highlight the clause when discussing Newcastle’s desire to sign the midfielder in the summer. The Tyneside club are said to be a ‘very serious suitor’.

The Turkey international has 1128 minutes from 30 games this season, managing six goals and four assists in the process.

He’s in contention to hit 1500 minutes this season and even exceed it, if the Yellow Canaries make it to the Turkish Cup final. In that event, Güler’s release clause will be set at €20m.

With regards to Newcastle, it’s said they are ‘seriously interested’ in securing the teenager’s services. Eddie Howe’s side have already contacted Güler and his family through his agent to discuss a potential move, and these talks took place in Dubai.

Newcastle aren’t the only club chasing the player as Barcelona, Borussia Dortmund and Napoli also want him.
