As Newcastle United continue with their pursuit for Sporting defender Gonçalo Inácio, it seems the Magpies have recently watched one of his performances in loco.
The information is today brought by Portuguese newspaper A Bola, who says the Premier League side had a scout at Saturday’s game between the Lions and Tondela.
It’s said Newcastle were ‘adding more notes to the book of notes’ about the 20-year-old, who’s been an important player for Sporting this season
A Bola then recalls the Magpies’ attempt to sign Gonçalo Inácio in January, with the club making a bid worth €30m, which was turned down by the Lions.
The player recently signed a contract renewal until 2026, keeping the €45m release clause, which works as a basis for Sporting to negotiate him in the summer.
When Premier League clubs scout players from Portuguese sides, those visits are normally made at home games in Lisbon or Porto, meaning it’s quite interesting to see Newcastle’s scouts travelling to Tondela, which should mean they’re really interested in seeing the most from Inácio.
In case they really offered €30m and continue to be convinced of his signing, it then wouldn’t be a surprise to see the clubs getting to a deal for a few extra millions in the summer.
