Everyone appears to want Alassane Pléa these days.
After Tottenham’s alleged offer for the OGC Nice, which was vehemently denied by L’Equipe late last week, and Sky Sports reporting West Ham, Fulham and Newcastle were all keen, it’s the latter on that list who has come forward with a bid.
That’s what Le10 Sport are reporting on Monday afternoon, explaining the Magpies had placed an offer on the table, although the amount hasn’t been divulged.
OGC Nice are said to want more than €20m for their forward, knowing they would have to pay 20% of any sale to Lyon, from whom they bought the striker back in 2014.
According to the French website, the offer was deemed ‘insufficient’ and was rejected.
It’s easy to see why Rafa Benitez would be interested in the versatile striker, who can play down the wing as well as through the middle, after he scored 21 goals in 49 appearances in all competitions.
