AC Milan chiefs Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara absolutely want to sign Sven Botman and will do everything they can to secure the Lille player’s services amid Newcastle United interest.
That’s according to MilanNews, who explain the defender is in love with the Serie A side, who will have to convince the French club to conclude the transfer.
That won’t be easy because the Magpies have proposed a more important economic offer to the Ligue 1 side.
Newcastle would also be ‘willing to please’ the 22-year-old by offering him a better deal. Despite this, the Dutchman continues to keep the ‘promise’ made to the Rossoneri.
Over at Calciomercato, they state this week is the ‘most crucial’ for the Italian champions to sort out the renewals of Maldini and Massara as their current deals expire on June 30th.
It is necessary for Milan to formalise the renewals, in order to unblock operations for Botman and his teammate, Renato Sanches. Regarding the centre-back, the report adds Eddie Howe’s side have ‘returned strongly’ for him.
Due to Newcastle’s superior offer, Lille are asking Stefano Pioli’s side to pay more to part ways with their star. Botman is keen to make a switch to the San Siro, and is waiting for Milan to meet the French club’s demands.
It’s said ‘important news’ is expected in the ‘coming days’ on this case. With Milan and Newcastle battling it out for the Dutch defender, it remains to be seen who will win the race for his signature.
