As covered on Wednesday morning, Newcastle United are still in the race to sign Aaron Ramsey from Juventus.

Well, we say a race, but apart from the Magpies, it appears few clubs who want him will stand a chance, as Gazzetta dello Sport claim that while he ‘wants to return to the Premier League’, the Welshman, is ‘only willing to accept medium-high level offers’.

Despite barely playing for the Turin side, Ramsey still feels he can play at the highest level, and the newspaper, via their website, state the ‘Newcastle track remains the hottest and most welcome’.

In contrast, ‘other less attractive enquiries like that of Burnley have been rejected’.

So, it appears that while Ramsey is being difficult when it comes to finding his next club, Newcastle remain firmly an option for him.

What could work in the Magpies’ favour here, and this is just us speculating, is the arrival of Kieran Trippier, as the signing of the England international could convince his Welsh counterpart that this is a project worth fighting in, especially if he just joins on a six-month loan.
