Newcastle United ‘in particular’ are interested in signing Bologna star Joshua Zirkzee.
That’s according to Milan Web, who state the Magpies would be providing competition to AC Milan in the chase for the 22-year-old.
The striker has starred this season, managing eight goals and four assists from 18 games. This has convinced the Rossoneri to make an effort to buy him next month.
A potential deal would be difficult due to the cost of the operation and the competition from other clubs, particularly from Newcastle United.
Milan wouldn’t be able to compete financially with Newcastle and if the latter make a firm approach, the San Siro club would have to then raise the ‘white flag’. This is the way the Tyneside club ‘scare’ Stefano Pioli’s side in the chase for Zirkzee.
Various outlets, including Tuttosport, have said Zirkzee is currently valued at €40m, which is the amount in his release clause. Therefore, it wouldn’t make sense for Newcastle to pay an additional €10m to sign him, unless they did so to spread the cost for FFP requirements.
