Among the many Premier League clubs who got linked to Fiorentina defender Nikola Milenkovic this season, we can now add Newcastle United to that list.

A report from Italian outlet Calcio Mercato today claims that following the Magpies’ failure for the signing of Sven Botman from Lille, they’re now going for the La Viola player.

The website claims there’s ‘real interest’ from Newcastle, as there have already been contacts between the English side and Fiorentina.

The story says the bid from the Magpies is ‘ready’, even though it isn’t said how much they’re set to put on the table.

Milenkovic has obviously been linked to a departure from Fiorentina for a while, and Calcio Mercato now points out that the likes of Juventus and Milan have both been ‘involved for some time’ in this race.

It’s said La Viola could do with a sale in January, as long as they receive an offer ‘in line with the player’s value’. So we’ll have to see how much Newcastle would like to spend.
