Newcastle United are the ‘last big chance’ for Real Madrid midfielder Isco as he edges closer to leaving the Spanish giants.

That’s according to El Español, who cover the player’s future today and the persistent rumours around him.

The Spaniard is out of contract at the Bernabeu in the summer and is looking likely to leave, with La Liga’s leaders not wanting to renew his current deal.

El Español explain that ‘unless there is a surprise’ he will be leaving the club in the summer, although there is the possibility of a move in January.

The midfielder is out of the picture under Carlo Ancelotti, as he was under Zinedine Zidane, and it’s felt that January could bring a ‘surprise offer’ for both parties to end their relationship early.

That could come from Newcastle, who are keen to build in their first window under their new ownership and add options to Eddie Howe’s relegation-threatened side.

A creative midfielder like Isco would go a long way to solving some of their issues up front, and reports in England have claimed they could make a move as he’d be the ‘star’ signing they’re looking for.

The Magpies are the latest to be linked with Isco, with Everton the suitors in January last year and Milan apparently keen in the summer.

Neither of those clubs made a move, and he remained in Madrid, and it’s felt that Newcastle are now his ‘last big chance’ to get a transfer before his contract expires.

If not, he will have to wait until the end of the season to be ‘completely free’ and look for a new sporting project.
