Whenever Ayoze Perez does something particularly good it’s near certain transfer rumours will appear in the Spanish media.
To be fair to the newspapers in Spain, the Newcastle United player has encouraged those rumours more than anyone else. For years, whenever he’s been given the chance to, Perez has talked up the potential of a return to Spain, wanting to try his chances in La Liga.
For the same time there’s probably been a significant discrepancy between what Newcastle would ask for their player, and what a La Liga club would be willing to pay.
Then there’s also wages, unless Perez moves to one of the top clubs in Spain then it’s unlikely he’d see a big jump in salary.
After a hat-trick at the weekend, Spanish newspaper AS quote the Newcastle player as saying: “In the summer there will be options, although it isn’t 100% that I will go. My idea is to return to Spain.”
Unless he’s said pretty such the same as on previous occasions, which is entirely possible, then this could be a recycled quote.
In Spain, it’s being suggested the player’s price could start at around €10m, which seems unrealistically on the low side.
