Newcastle United have their eyes set on Bayer Leverkusen’s Kerem Demirbay for the next window.
That’s according to Sky Deutschland, who state the Magpies have knocked on the 29-year-old’s door.
Operating mainly in the middle of the pitch, he’s scored four goals and registered three assists from 29 matches this season.
The Germany international’s displays for the Bundesliga side have caught the attention of Newcastle, who are ‘closely monitoring’ him. That’s all the report has to say about Eddie Howe’s side.
Hertha Berlin and Fiorentina looked at the player in the winter market but a deal never took shape. With Newcastle now knocking on his door, it’s explained he could ‘imagine’ taking the next step in the summer.
Demirbay has a deal until 2024 and it’s claimed a ‘transfer is likely’ in the next window. The report adds a fee of around €4-5m would be enough to take him away from Leverkusen.
This could come an encouragement for Newcastle, and is a fee that the Magpies could easily cover.
