Valencia are working hard to find a new club for centre-back Mouctar Diakhaby and Newcastle United remain an option for him.
That’s according to AS, who say the player is determined to try and secure a move to the Premier League to further his career.
They report that Diakhaby’s name is ‘in the red’ at Valencia, and both they and the player want to secure a move before deadline day.
The player is pushing to get a move to the Premier League, and both parties are looking for a team that is willing to bid for him.
AS have already named Leicester and Newcastle as suitors in the past, but neither has decided to ‘take the step forward’ at this moment in time.
The ‘Newcastle window has not closed’, though, and Diakhaby would see them as a ‘good destination’ were they to offer up a move.
So far, they are yet to do so, so Valencia and his agency have widened their search to France, where there are more ‘open doors’ for the defender.
Diakhaby doesn’t want to look at those offers right now as his desire is to move to England, and he wants to ensure there’s no Premier League offers before going anywhere else.
That sets the path up nicely for Newcastle to get their man, although Valencia will need a fee of around €8-10m to sanction his departure.
