It seems increasingly clear that Juventus are trying to edge Weston McKennie towards the market, with the hope of getting a good fee from a Premier League club.
The 23-year-old, who has a contract with the Turin club lasting until June 2025, has made 28 appearances this season, with some of those just brief run-outs. He’s been out since mid February with a metatarsal fracture, and it doesn’t appear he has a key place for the Serie A side next season.
TuttoJuve report Newcastle United, Tottenham and Arsenal ‘could offer up to €40m’ to secure the player’s signature this summer.
That sounds like an over the top price, considering McKennie’s standing, and if Newcastle are truly interested they could almost certainly do a deal for less.
Interestingly, Thursday’s edition of Gazzetta dello Sport reports McKennie is one of the midfielders Juventus would look to sell in the next window, as they try to make deals for Paul Pogba and Jorginho possible.
An official from the club has travelled to England to try and build deals. It would be no surprise if Newcastle are on the agenda.
The Italian newspaper say Juve’s asking price is €40m, which is quite the coincidence given the other claim.
Someone is apparently pushing the idea of McKennie moving to the Premier League, and for a fee of around €40m.
