Newcastle United are hoping to complete a deal for Monaco defender Benoit Badiashile in the summer transfer window.
That’s according to Foot Mercato, who say the Magpies are planning a ‘major summer’ of business following their takeover.
With Premier League safety now all but confirmed, Eddie Howe’s side are now planning for the summer window and how they can spend the vast sums on offer from the Saudi Public Investment Fund.
They have big plans for the club, but to achieve this, they will have to ‘recruit heavily’ in the summer and raise the level of the current squad.
The transfer rumours already abound, and according to FM’s information, the latest name to add to the list is Badiashile.
They say that Newcastle ‘already approached’ the 21-year-old in the January transfer window, but the Principality club rejected their efforts and managed to retain one of their star men.
Newcastle are unperturbed, though, and have ‘not given up’ their efforts to sign the French defender this summer.
In fact, they are said to be ‘determined’ to get a deal done but will have to pay a ‘good sum’, around €40m, to convince ASM to let him go.
