Newcastle United ‘enter the race’, along with West Ham United and Leicester City, for Vincent Aboubakar, according to claims.
Last summer, the striker left Beşiktaş for Saudi Arabian side Al Nassr FC, with whom he signed a three-year deal. He has managed five goals and three assists in 16 matches so far this season.
The Cameroon international is now said to be attracting interest from Premier League sides.
That’s because of his fine displays for his country at the recently conclude Africa Cup of Nations. The 30-year-old won the Golden Boot, after scoring eight goals [and adding an assist] in seven matches.
According to Kick442.com, Aboubakar’s form in the 2021 AFCON could help him return to Europe in the summer, where the Magpies are named as one of his suitors.
It’s claimed the Tyneside club have ‘manifested interest in signing’ the player and he could leave Al Nassr, if Newcastle or any other interested club ‘pay the right amount to tempt’ them.
Apart from the interest from Eddie Howe’s side, West Ham and Leicester, there’s no mention when any of these sides intend to make an offer to secure the Aboubakar’s services.
