Bayern Munich have reached a verbal agreement with Newcastle United defender Kieran Trippier over a move this month.

That’s according to Sky Sport Germany, who say the German giants have managed to secure ‘an in-principle verbal agreement’ for the Newcastle defender.

Reports yesterday linked Bayern with a surprise move for the Magpies full-back as they continue to search for a right-back for Thomas Tuchel’s squad this month.

It was claimed in Germany that talks with Newcastle were scheduled for some point on Saturday and it seems before they happen, Bayern have taken one major step towards getting their man.

According to Sky’s information, the Newcastle defender has ‘given his commitment’ to an immediate move to Munich and ‘really wants’ it.

With that in their back pocket, the German record champions are now in contact with Newcastle about a move. The negotiations have now begun, with the Magpies even open to a loan deal.

All the pieces are in place then, although for now PSG are prioritising a move for PSG’s Nordi Mukiele but if that doesn’t work out, then Trippier remains the ‘first alternative’ for them.

At this point PSG are rejecting Bayern’s advances, with the Germans only offering a loan with an option and the French side only wanting the clause to be an obligation. Thus, if those talks don’t progress, they could move for Trippier and have everything in place to get him it seems.
