With the summer transfer window fast approaching, and contracts quickly running out, talk of young players leaving clubs on a free are starting to circulate.

A great example of this currently doing the rounds regards the future of AS Saint-Etienne’s Mickael Nadé, whose deal runs out in June.

According to France Football, two clubs have already approached the young centre-back, and one of them happens to be Rafa Benitez’s Newcastle.

The offer from the Championship club is said to be ‘concrete’ and would be for the 18-year-old to join the club’s professional ranks.

Having made 15 appearances for Saint-Etienne’s U19s and reserves, the French website explain the youngster is considered one of the club’s biggest prospects, and is even being labelled as ‘the next Kurt Zouma’.

The other club fighting Newcastle for Nadé’s is RB Salzburg, known to develop young players and give them a chance, and with Dayot Upamecano recently leaving for RB Leipzig, the Saint-Etienne defender would fit in nicely.

Then again, with Premier League football potentially returning to St James’ Park next season, Newcastle might could end up having the upper hand over their Austrian counterparts.
