Newcastle United have made a third attempt for the signing of Matheus França from Flamengo, according to reports from Brazil.
The information comes from journalist Venê Casagrande, who, on Youtube, explains that the Rio de Janeiro side turned down a new attempt from the Magpies.
It’s said Newcastle first tried with a €13m bid, and were told by Flamengo they’d only let the player go for €20m plus 50% of a future move.
The Magpies then tried again, this time offering €14m plus €2m in bonuses, leaving the Brazilian club with no percentage, and that was again turned down.
Now Newcastle reportedly placed a bid worth €16m paid at once, and that continues to not be enough to convince Flamengo, who insist that the player is not for sale.
The Brazilian club are about to confirm the sale of João Gomes to a European club for around €18m, and in their understanding, França should be worth a lot more than that, especially because he’s an attacking player.
Therefore, despite three offers, Newcastle continue to be far from Flamengo’s demands, and it seems unlikely they’ll reach that price unless they decide to throw the kitchen sink at him.
