Impressing at Toulouse in France, Ibrahim Sangaré was linked with a number of clubs around Europe in 2020, and eventually signed for PSV Eindhoven in Holland.
The 24-year-old has since excelled with the Dutch side, to the point where Newcastle United, keen to strengthen their squad this January, have taken an interest and made a first approach.
That’s according to Voetbal International, who report that Sangaré ‘knows himself’ about the interest of the Magpies, but the chances of him leaving Eindhoven in the current transfer window are ‘not very great’.
The Dutch outlet explain it ‘isn’t very surprising’ to see Newcastle being keen in the midfielder ‘after his good first half of the season’, and their first move came when they ‘reported to Jean Musampa, Sangaré’s agent, before Christmas’.
The representative, who is also the brother of Kiki Musampa, told VI ‘there has always been a lot of interest in the PSV midfielder’, but he also knows that ‘Newcastle are first looking for reinforcements in defence and attack’.
As things stand, Eddie Howe’s side ‘have not yet made a concrete offer for Sangaré’ and, when asked, the Eredivisie club ‘say that it is their intention for the physically strong midfielder to remain in Eindhoven this season’.
This means that Newcastle and all their money will have to be very convincing to get the player in the current window.
