Newcastle United are now the latest club to be linked to the Roma fullback Emerson Palmieri.
As reported by Italian website TuttoMercatoWeb today, the Magpies have recently asked the Serie A side about the player, asking for information ahead of the January transfer window.
Newcastle are not the first Premier League club to be linked to him this year, since Liverpool were said to have him as a target as well.
The very same TuttoMercatoWeb claims that the Reds’ interest had gone cold after the player’s knee injury. He’s been recovering of a cruciate ligament rupture, and only made only three appearances this season.
Palmieri has been playing and impressing for Roma since 2015, but was only signed permanently on a €2m deal from Santos earlier this year.
TuttoMercatoWeb doesn’t mention how much the Italian side will be demanding for him, but previous reports suggested that might be in the €20m range.
Not that cheap, but then again, we’re talking about Premier League clubs here.
