Bayern Munich head of recruitment Laurent Busser is of ‘interest’ for Newcastle United, according to Foot Mercato.
The Frenchman is ‘little known’ to general football fans, but ‘in the small world of football, he has a ‘big name’.
Having joined the Bavarian club from Bayern Leverkusen in January 2018, he is partly responsible for the arrival of French players at the club like Dayot Upamecano, Benjamin Pavard, Tanguy Nianzou, Lucas Hernández, Bouna Sarr and a few others in recent years.
Busser is also credited in helping Bayern identify Alphonso Davies when he was largely unknown to the European market. His current role with the Bundesliga winners includes identifying young talents and ‘obtaining contracts’ to help his employer.
His work for the German giants has not gone unnoticed, especially at the Tyneside club, where there is new project, after Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment confirmed the purchase of the Magpies last month.
It’s claimed Newcastle are ‘interested in bringing’ Busser to the club so that he can ‘carry out their new recruitment policy’. He is contracted to Bayern and therefore, the Premier League side need to find an agreement to have the Frenchman work at St James’ Park.
