On May 14th, we carried a report from Corriere della Sera, who explained Newcastle United are among the clubs in picture to sign Ivan Perišić this summer.

He has just over a month left on his contract at Inter Milan and the two parties have so far not found an agreement over a new deal.

Newcastle United are mentioned in today’s edition of the same Italian newspaper as they discuss the 33-year-old’s future.

Frane Jurcevic, the Croatia international’s agent, was pictured at the Serie A side’s headquarters on Monday. The details of the talks he had with the Nerazzurri are explained by Corriere della Sera.

It’s claimed the representatives have explained to the Italian club’s executives that they have received ‘important proposals’ for the player. Juventus have an interest in Perišić, but it has not been translated into an offer.

The track leading to the Premier League is ‘very popular’ for the player, where Newcastle United are in the mix. The newspaper states Eddie Howe’s side are ‘interested’ in the former Wolfsburg man.

Inter raised their offer to €5m net per year plus bonuses, and this could allow him to earn up to to €6m annually. The overall cost of the deal for two years could be around €20m.

The San Siro side are making an effort to keep Perišić and will look for an alternative if he refuses to sign an extension. His agent has ‘taken time’ and ‘will give an answer this week’ to Inter.

Newcastle United and Perišić’s other suitors will find out in the next few days whether they stand a chance to sign him on a free transfer.
