Nearly a year ago, we saw Newcastle United being linked to Ecuadorian defender Piero Hincapie. The youngster was still playing for Argentine side Talleres at the time, and his performances drew attention from many European sides.
That’s why he soon moved to Bayer Leverkusen in a €6.35m deal, and following his first season in Germany, it seems he continues to be in the eyes of several clubs, including the Magpies.
Italian outlet Tutto Mercato Web features a story claiming that the likes of Napoli and Roma continue observing Hincapie’s performances in Bundesliga, with the Giallorossi making contacts in recent weeks.
Then their report also mentions Newcastle, claiming the interest from the Premier League side ‘has not stopped’.
In case those clubs choose to for Hincapie’s signing now, then it’s obvious they’ll have to pay a lot more than they would last year. A good proof of it is that Transfermarkt already raised his valuation to €17m.
