Newcastle United are among the clubs to have Club Brugge’s Antonio Nusa on their radar.
The Tyneside club may be given a new opportunity to try and secure a deal for the winger in the winter market.
That’s at least what today’s Het Laatste Nieuws is indicating and it’s claimed Newcastle are ‘lurking’ to sign the 18-year-old, with their interest pushed ahead of Tottenham and Chelsea.
Brentford have agreed a deal with the Jupiler Pro League side but found an issue during the player’s medical tests.
They have requested more information about the Norway international’s fitness from Club Brugge and the Norwegian FA. The deal will be delayed and the Belgian club will have wait to find out the next steps.
If the deal doesn’t go through, HLN believe Club Brugge don’t have to worry because there are other interested parties and this is when Newcastle are tagged.
Le Soir relay HLN’s claim and add that if the Bees can’t get the deal over the line, other clubs, including Newcastle, could ‘take advantage of the opportunity’ to sign Nusa.
Both reports claim Nusa is keen on joining the London club and therefore, Eddie Howe’s side have to convince him, to have a hope of securing his services.
Despite all of that, Brentford have agreed a deal worth €37m, plus 12.5% of any future profit, plus a loan back for the remainder of the season.
Those financials seem out of Newcastle’s current grasp, given financial restrictions, and they also seem very high for a player who has a lot to prove and who has experienced issues with his latest medical.
The Magpies and other clubs could be being used to pressure Brentford into accepting a deal they’re currently doubting.
