As we’ve pointed out a couple of times before, while they wait to see if their takeover goes through, Newcastle United are doing some groundwork on more affordable players.

Soccer Link revealed in late May the Magpies were looking to sign Carney Chukwuemeka from Aston Villa for £1m, and had also contacted the entourage of Arnaud Lusamba, who is out of contract at OGC Nice this summer.

Well, they’re at it again, as La Provence in France explain Newcastle are hovering around a young Marseille forward.

The player is Ilyès Zouaoui, who was only under an ‘amateur’ licence at the Ligue 1 side, and who has now been offered a one year ‘trainee’ contract.

It’s explained the France U17 international forward ‘has yet to give a favourable answer’ to Marseille.

La Provence then add many foreign clubs are ‘following the situation closely’, including Newcastle, Juventus and Ajax.

Furthermore, it’s stated the player’s entourage have already turned away two offers originating from Spain.

We’ll let you know if this develops further.
