Newcastle United are ‘eyeing’ a move for Brazilian youngster Angelo, with representatives already speaking to the player’s agent.
That’s according to Globo Esporte, who say Newcastle have been ‘monitoring’ the 17-year-old closely and have spoken to his agent about their interest and a possible transfer.
The outlet explains that Angelo is considered one of the ‘main jewels’ at Santos, and the board of directors believe any ‘harassment’ from European clubs is natural.
They are aware of the interest from Newcastle, particularly as Angelo’s agent has already ‘made the bridge’ and opened a dialogue with those in charge at the club.
At the moment, a sale is not being considered by either Santos or the player’s managers, with both believing there is no need for the 17-year-old to rush to Europe at this point.
Neither, therefore, will move before they receive an ‘official proposal’ for the player, believing he is ‘protected’ after renewing his deal until 2024 in December.
Newcastle are yet to make any such bid or anything of that nature, but they are keen on the youngster and have reached out to his agent to discuss a possible move.
