Following all the January reports regarding Newcastle United’s chase for Sevilla defender Diego Carlos, the Magpies are still named as one of the likely candidates to go for his signing in the summer.

Today it’s website Fichajes who features a story pointing out the potential destinations for the defender. And it turns out the Magpies are the first on the list.

Recalling that Newcastle already tried to sign him in the winter, it’s now claimed that the St. James’ Park side will be one of the clubs who’ll ‘push the most’ to get his transfer done.

It’s claimed that Diego Carlos is currently valued at €45m, but Sevilla are looking to make more, demanding at least €50m for such a ‘vital’ player from their squad.

The Magpies should just be aware of the competition for the Brazilian, as the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City are said to be interested in taking him to the Premier League as well.

What could probably work on Newcastle’s side this summer is Sevilla’s urge to make money with sales.

This week, reports from Spanish outlets Sport and Goal have been showing that following the La Liga side’s premature elimination from the Europa League, the club were left with a €30m deficit in their accounts. They’ll have to cover that with transfers, and it’s well known that Diego Carlos is one of the main candidates for a big move.
