On Thursday afternoon, it was reported that Newcastle United were still interested in Mouctar Diakhaby.
The defender is on his way out from Valencia, and a move to England would likely be his preferred destination.
That’s confirmed by Foot Mercato in France, who explained that both Newcastle and Leicester City are potential landing spots for the player.
Recently changing agents, the defender is ‘looking for a new experience far from Spain’, where in England, ‘Newcastle and especially Leicester’ are interested.
That being said, there are also other clubs keeping an eye on the situation, with Fenerbahçe in Turkey having ‘taken information about him’ of late.
We’ll have to see whether Steve Bruce, Brendan Rodgers or the Turkish side come out victorious, but one thing appears certain: Diakhaby seems set on leaving Valencia in the coming days.
The 24-year-old has spent the last three years in Spain, where he has racked up 96 appearances for the La Liga side, scoring four goals, but has only managed to appear for four minutes this season.
